Resurgent After defeating bitter rivals Nigeria in a qualification, Ghana will play title-holders Morocco in the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Algeria.
The biannual competition, which is only open to celebrities who currently reside in the nation of their birth, saw Ghana finish second in two of the first three editions before failing to qualify three times.
In 2021, Morocco became the first nation to win consecutive CHAN competitions after defeating Mali 2-0 in the championship game in Yaounde. Following the draw on Saturday in an opera house in Algiers, debutants Madagascar and Sudan joined Ghana and Morocco in Group C.
Hosts Algeria were put in Group A with Libya, Ethiopia, and Mozambique. Algeria had only qualified for one of the previous six editions. On January 13 at the Baraki Stadium in Algiers, the tournament's opening game will pit 2014 runner-up Libya against Algeria.
