AGENCY: ICT Officer
The goal of the PANKO Adolescents Center is to give underprivileged youth the chance to acquire the skills they need to reach their full potential. PANKO is trying to enhance five skill sets of children and young people, including foundational skills, digital skills, transferable skills, career specific skills, and entrepreneurial skills, on a 0.6-acre area including learning spaces and a playground.
The youth centre currently offers after-school programmes to help rural children who are in school with core skills and to refocus their energy and time away from social vices in order to help them escape the worst forms of poverty.
PANKO would launch an ICT intervention in October 2022 to offer impoverished schoolchildren, youth, and women computer and internet services as well as demand-driven trainings in ICT skills (both software and hardware). Utilizing ecologically friendly and sustainable methods, this intervention will help underprivileged adolescents in Ghana's Northern area by improving their access to school and job opportunities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- First, planning and providing teenagers and children with ICT training.
- Second, installing and setting up computer systems, as well as identifying software and hardware issues.
- Lastly, finding solutions to ICT-related technical and application issues.
- Meeting PANKO Youth Center's visual design needs is another priority.
- Additionally, developing, installing, and maintaining computers
- After that, maintaining hardware accessories (e.g., scanners, printers, external drives).
- Then, help with ICT-related projects and programmes.
Position Description
In order to meet the needs of the ICT interventions, the ICT Officer will be in charge of overseeing the daily operations of PANKO's ICT centre and any related interventions. They will report to and work closely with the Programs Coordinator.
QUALIFICATION
HND, A degree or professional certification in computer science or an area closely connected to IT is preferred.
adequate professional experience in a similar discipline.
SKILLS
- the capacity to plan and deliver introductory ICT trainings to kids and teenagers.
- understanding of operating systems and applications for computer hardware.
- capable of using Microsoft suits (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
- proficient with Photoshop, CorelDraw, or any other graphic design software.
- An extra advantage is having prior knowledge of computer setup, upkeep, and repair.
- Must be imaginative and possess excellent planning and problem-solving abilities.
- good interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Fluency in Dagbani is a bonus, as is written and spoken English proficiency.
- The last qualification is the ability to work a flexible schedule, even on weekends.
